I showed Rhiannon the progress of the model at this point, as I was still able to make changes to the base if the size or shape were not appropriate. It was suggested that the wings were made bigger. After looking at photograph of gargoyles again, I noticed the wing shape looked quite unnatural and didn't flow from the body. I added length and definition to them, which looked much better after.
As I started to add little details, I tried to keep the shapes simple, as I kept in mind that the models had to look carved, and a little crude. I started adding cardboard scales, which i knew work from my test, and sculpted some feet out of clay. As I had mapped out on the body where the legs would be, I was confident that the sculpture was pulling together nicely.
